#WalkThisMay for National Walking Month
With the lead up to the Tour de Yorkshire there’s been a huge amount of emphasis on cycling, so we thought we’d turn our attention from two wheels to two legs, after all May is National Walking Month…
Organised by Living Streets, a charity set up to look out for the best interests of pedestrians, National Walking Month aims to get us Brits out and about on foot, indulging in one of our favourite pastimes.
In the Yorkshire Wolds we’re spoilt for choice when it comes to beautiful walks, so if you happen to find yourself in our neck of the woods here are some links to walks on the Wolds and the rest of Yorkshire, suited to all levels of ability.
On the National Trail website is a selection of downloadable leaflets with walks on the Yorkshire Wolds Way – as well as the walks there’s information on accommodation in and around the Yorkshire Wolds if you fancy spending a few days exploring this beautiful part of Yorkshire.
The Walking Englishman website has a wide selection of Wolds walks from a 4 mile walk around Beverley and Beverley Westwood to a 20 mile walk between West Heslerton and Filey Brigg.
Finally, the Welcome to Yorkshire website is full of downloadable walks, not just on the Yorkshire Wolds but all across the county, including the North Sea Trail, dog-friendly walks, walks on the Howardian Hills and the Yorkshire Dales, as well as The Turner Trails and walks in the Pennines.
So if you want to get out and about for an inspiring walk in Yorkshire, what better excuse than National Walking Month? The only problem is where to start!
