Try gluten-free products from Bannisters Farm
This week is Coeliac Awareness Week (11-17 May 2014). Organised by Coeliac UK, this year’s event, Is it Coeliac Disease?, focusses on improving diagnosis of the disease, and creating a stronger link between the disease and its symptoms.
According to the charity, 1 per cent of the UK suffers from coeliac disease yet only 24 per cent of sufferers are medically diagnosed.
If you’re diagnosed with coeliac disease, the treatment is to follow a gluten-free diet, so we thought we’d let you know about the products in our range which are gluten free.
It’s really hard to find alternatives to bread during the course of a normal day. We find that our Ready Baked Potatoes and, particularly our Littl’uns Small Baked Potatoes can be especially useful as a change from gluten free breads – they’re a quick and convenient option for a quick lunch whether at home, or at a desk, and you can top them with most things that could also be eaten in a sandwich.
You might also be surprised to find that our full range of Fully Loaded Jacket Potatoes, perfect for eating at a desk or on the move, are also completely gluten free. They’re available in three delicious fillings: Broccoli and Cauliflower Cheese; Cheese and Beans and Mature Cheddar Cheese.
Our Baked and Filled Potato Skins make an excellent snack or meal accompaniment and they’re completely gluten free. They’re available in three scrumptious flavours: Cheese and Smokey Bacon; Cheese and Roasted Onion and Cheese and Jalapeno.
Then there’s our newest product, our gluten-free Bites Mini Loaded Potato Skins, which are also available in Cheese and Onion, Cheese and Jalapeno, and Cheese and Smoked Bacon. Excellent for snacking or sharing.
We’re also pleased to say that our Farmer’s Roasting Potatoes are one of the few gluten-free frozen roasts available. Ours are simply potato, rapeseed oil and a bit of seasoning. They are just as you would make yourself at home, only we’ve done the hard work for you, ready for you to finish off.
Many frozen roast potatoes you’ll see in the supermarket have a batter or coating, which is often the gluten culprit, some even contain dairy, but there’s nothing unhomely about our roasties!
You will find our products in the frozen aisle of these stores and if you can’t find what you’re looking for in your local supermarket, you can email us, with your postcode, at thefarmer@bannistersfarm.co.uk for your nearest stockist.
