Time for the challenge
This weekend sees the 7th annual Yorkshire Wolds Cycle Challenge, a two-day, 144-mile cycle ride around the beautiful Yorkshire Wolds in aid of Ryedale Special Families, a local charity supporting the families of children and young people with disabilities.
We’ve been sponsoring the event for five years now and we’ve been delighted to see how it’s grown over the years.
Raising over £100,000 since it began, the event has a record number of people, approximately 250, taking part this year.
This year the route is anti-clockwise, starting at Norton College and taking in some beautiful towns and villages, including Kirkham, Thixendale and Beverley before the stopover at Hutton Cranswick, where riders can enjoy the overnight camp, with hot food, music and a beer or two (supplied by fellow sponsors, Wold Top Brewery). Cyclists will take the coastal route via Bridlington, Bempton and Hunmanby, then back towards Norton through the stunning village of Sledmere.
It might be an understatement to say there’s a hill or two en route but riders are more than compensated by the amazing views.
So good luck to all taking part, we can’t wait to find out how much money this year’s event has raised, and for such a brilliant cause!
