The wanderers return
It really is a sign of springtime approaching when birds like goldfinches, who disappear from our Wolds garden over winter, begin to return to our bird table. This week we’ve been seeing some goldfinches (see main image) and greenfinches around the garden as well as their hardier cousins, the chaffinches and the blue, great and coal tits, who stick around through the winter.
We’ve also noticed that something’s moved into the kestrel box we put up. We’re not sure whether it’s a kestrel, or a jackdaw, or perhaps a tawny owl, as we’ve been hearing them at night. Answers on a postcard please…
