The Grocer Fast 50 ranking

The Grocer Fast 50 ranking

We were absolutely delighted, earlier this week, to find that we’d been ranked in The Grocer Fast 50 list of fastest growing independent food and drink producers in the UK.

Entering at number 36, it’s the first time we’ve featured in the list which includes other brands such as artisan piemaker Higgidy, cider producers Thatchers, William Jackson & Son, and craft beer company BrewDog.

What makes it even more special is that the recognition comes as we celebrate 30 years of baking spuds this very month!

It was December 1985 when Mum and Dad baked their first batch of potatoes grown on their farm on the Yorkshire Wolds, in a small commercial oven at Carnaby, East Yorkshire.

Dad came up with the idea of using the freezing process to preserve the best quality baking potatoes in their baked state, rather than fresh, to combat the problem of poor potato storage.

Thirty years later, having launched our retail brand, Bannisters’ Farm , back in 2007, we’re really proud of the fact that we’ve been able to grow the business without compromising our status as a British independent family-run business with farming traditions running through to our core.

So being ranked in The Grocer Fast 50 list really means a lot.

What a great way to round off the year!
