Beauty and the Beast

Anyone lucky enough to be out and about in the British countryside these past few weeks will have noticed that the combine harvesters have well and truly come out of hibernation to get to work in the fields.  Most farmers are getting through the last of their wheat now and we’ve just finished – what a relief!

With the weather in this country being unpredictable at best, “to harvest or not to harvest” is a question all farmers must ask themselves most days as the grain crops begin to turn that unmistakeable warm yellow.  For that reason, we’re always torn between loving harvest time because of the excitement of finally gathering in our crops, and dreading it!   We recognise though that there is something dramatic about harvest, and so for the last couple of years, we’ve documented harvest time by filming the whole process down at Bannister’s Farm.

With this year’s harvest almost wrapped up, we’ll soon be posting a new video but in the meantime, we thought we’d give you a little teaser by sharing our favourite clip from last year’s video showing a stunningly captured hare running alongside a combine – which is the beauty and which is the beast? Well that’s for you to decide.
