A Sunday run for Team BF

A Sunday run for Team BF

There’s a great team spirit at Bannisters’ Farm HQ, so when we heard about the Yorkshire Marathon Corporate Relay, we thought we’d extend that team spirit to raise some money for a worthy charity, Yorkshire Cancer Research, and set ourselves a challenge at the same time.

Sunday 11 October was marathon day and the team, myself, Becky (BF HQ’s resident marathon runner and triathlete), Demi, Jacqui (fresh back from holiday), Marie and Zoe met bright and early at Elvington Airfield to catch the “Park and Run” bus service to the start of the event at the University of York.

Carrying the team baton, Demi completed the first leg of the marathon with a run through York’s beautiful city centre, with the rest of the team deposited at various points around the course, waiting with anticipation to don the baton and complete their run. Marie rounded off Team BF’s effort with the “glory run” back into the university campus.

A great day was made even better by the lovely sunshine, the stunning Yorkshire views and the amazing crowds lining the route and shouting encouragement to the tired runners.

We don’t yet have a final total for our fundraising efforts but we’ll keep you posted. In the meantime, we’d like to say a big congratulations to the Yorkshire Marathon team for such a brilliantly organised event and last but not least, the runners, particularly those who ran the full 26.2 miles, on their excellent achievement!

Jo.
